The ask
Namibia Airports Company asked Helm to structure, launch and run an air service development initiative that makes Windhoek easier to reach by air, after international passenger numbers recovered slowly from COVID. It launched in March 2024 as Air Connect Namibia, a public-private partnership.
Our approach
- Structured and supported the launch of the national initiative
- Wrote the business cases, stakeholder presentations and legal frameworks
- Wrote a national air service development white paper and supported its implementation
- Met airlines at Routes World (2022, 2023, 2024), at AviaDev (2023, 2024) and at their head offices
- Updated the strategy and business cases as the talks with airlines progressed
- Strengthened the collaboration between Namibia's aviation, tourism and investment agencies
